Lyttelton Farmers Market is organised by
a stakeholder group interested in local fresh food available
on a weekly basis - under the Project Port Lyttelton (PPL)
umbrella.
It is easy to get to the market by public
transport as it is a short walk from the ferry terminal
and the number 28 and 35 buses stop outside. Click here
for more information.
The market is community based and is for local growers/makers
- those who produce and sell. The aim is for the community
to have the opportunity to buy local fresh food from the
grower/maker.
The market brings other
benefits such as reducing food miles and packaging. Reusable
shopping bags are encouraged and a Lyttelton Farmers Market
canvas bag is available for sale for $15 at the PPL stand
on market days. Also see the pdf below on reasons to buy
locally.
