Swap-O-Rama-Rama - upcycle your wardrobe!
When: Saturday 19 June, 11am - 4pm
Where: Lyttelton Recreation Centre, Wincester Street
How much: $10 plus a bag of clothes per person.
A clothing swap where people can create new items from old treasures. This event is sponsored by Singer (sewing machines) and Yudu (screen printers).
New Zealand's first Swap-O-Rama-Rama was on 20 February 2010 as part of the Lyttelton Summer Festival. It was a huge success. Many thanks to all the event's 40 volunteers, who sorted, sewed and screenprinted amazing creations for the more than 250 people who attended!
Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a giant clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops in which a community explores reuse and creativity through the recycling of used clothing. At Swap-O-Rama-Rama consumers are taught to be creators and this transformation takes place through the local talent in the community.
